Jay
Technology & Operations Support
I’m Ashley Sayers, founder of Happy Tails Raleigh. When my husband and I relocated to Raleigh a few years ago, I was surprised by how difficult it was to find dependable, high-quality pet care. I wanted more than someone who simply completed a list of tasks. I wanted consistent communication, genuine care, and a professional approach.
Having previously owned a pet boutique and grooming salon, I understood the importance of building lasting relationships with pet owners and earning their confidence. I also recognized how difficult it could be to find that same level of personal attention.
I created Happy Tails to offer the kind of experience I had been looking for. Small by design, the business combines professional expertise with thoughtful, individualized care.

Technology & Operations Support
Jay works full-time outside of the business, but plays an important role behind the scenes, keeping our website, software and other technology running smoothly. He also steps in as a trusted backup caregiver when extra coverage is needed.
A lifelong cat person, Jay had never lived with a dog until Calli joined the family and stole his heart. He now claims to love them equally, although his answer may change depending on which pets are listening.
Brand Ambassador
After a successful career as a beloved store dog, Calli came out of retirement to oversee our public relations. At 11-years old, she prefers a more leisurely pace but still promotes the business during her neighborhood walks and trail hikes. Her signature wiggle-butt greeting wins over nearly everyone she meets.
Off the clock, she is a devoted bully stick connoisseur, occasional cheese critic, and dedicated nap enthusiast.
Every company needs oversight. Ours is fiercely independent, highly opinionated, and generally uninterested in feedback.
Chief Happiness Officer
With 15 years of experience and a PhD in neediness, Gus specializes in boosting morale through relentless affection and a complete disregard for personal space. All emotional wellness initiatives serve one goal: making everyone fall in love with him. He is very good at his job.
Vice President of Standards
A self-appointed princess, Phoebe oversees quality control to ensure we measure up to her exacting standards. She conducts performance reviews through silent judgement and the strategic withholding of affection. Her approval is rarely given.
Director of Risk Management
Formerly feral, Eddie leads our safety division with hyper-vigilant focus. He takes undercover operations literally, evaluating all threats from secure, undisclosed locations. All visitors, unfamiliar noises, and sudden movements are suspect, though actual danger has yet to be found.
